Exfoliating is key to having clean and glowing skin. Your pores are the connection of your sebaceous glands and hair follicles to the surface of the skin. In a sense they are the holes that your hair sprouts out from and they provide the needed oil to keep your skin moisturized. Pores vary greatly in size, with a major factor being genetics. If your pores are clogged they can appear larger. Over time the look of your pores can become more noticeable because of aging, wear and repeat sun exposure.

One of the best ways to start cleaning out your pores is to use steam to heat up and open the pores. This allows the stuff blocking them to be easier to extract. Once this is done you can use cold water to help reduce redness and any inflammation. Exfoliating is a great way to help to clean the pores. When exfoliating, use a mild cleanser with micro beads like St.Ives Exfoliating Apricot Scrub. Make sure to rub them in lightly and gently to avoid irritating the skin. If you scrub too hard it can actually make the pores larger and allow for more dirt to get in, making the process counterproductive. There are other ways to help minimize the look of your pores including using a retinol agent. You can use prescription strength or over the counter products. Both help to produce more collagen in the skin. The more collagen your skin has the the less visible your pores will be. Salicylic acid is another popular option to reduce the look of pores. This agent helps to get rid of oil and dead cells giving the skin an overall cleaner and brighter look. Olay Regenerist Regenerating Cream Cleanser allows you to have soft and smooth skin inexpensively. It costs under $8 at most drugstores. There are other options for getting rid of blackheads including Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. These strips have evidence that you can see on the strip of all the dead cells and dirt they get out. These are an inexpensive option, but make sure to use them selectively as using them often and repeatedly can lead to greater looking pores.

The right makeup also makes a big difference if you are trying to give your skin an even looking surface. Primer is a fantastic product that allows you to fill in pores and smooth out the look of the skin, giving an even surface for foundation. In order to keep the look of your pores clean and your overall skin beautiful you must be consistent. This includes washing your makeup off at the end of every night so that the pores are not clogged, which creates blemishes. You should also try to exfoliate at least once a week to get a week’s worth of dirt and oil off. This will also help to stimulate and regenerate new skin cells by removing the dead ones.

Exfoliating will leave your skin feeling and looking refreshed.
